A water mist fire suppression system uses fine water droplets (mist) instead of heavy streams, effectively cooling flames, displacing oxygen, and blocking radiant heat to extinguish fires with significantly less water than traditional sprinklers, making it ideal for sensitive environments like data centers, ships, and historic buildings by minimizing water damage while offering powerful, eco-friendly protection.
Water in the form of mist is more effective in suppressing fire compared to just water. The water mist droplets are smaller and finer, which gives them a larger surface area and thus a larger heat absorption surface. This enables the mist to suppress a larger area of the fire without using more water.
Water mist fights fire in different ways including cooling the flames and surrounding gasses through evaporation, displacing oxygen by evaporation, diminishing radiant heat, and by wetting the fire.
Water mist systems are cost-effective. The systems are easier and cheaper to install and maintain than traditional sprinkler systems. This is due to water mist systems can be designed with smaller components and smaller diameter pipes. The water storage tanks for watermist systems are smaller than those required for traditional sprinklers, and therefore, require less storage space. In case of facility expansion, the water mist systems can be easily retrofitted and extended.
We undertake design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of Watermist systems as well.
